What did you think of the video? Have you ever been at the ocean when it stormed? I haven't seen in THAT big a storm, but I have seen many. When I was 14, we moved to a new state and my mother rented a house right on the ocean for the winter, while she looked for one she wanted to buy. When I say on the ocean, I mean right on it- there was a sea wall, a few feet of beach, and then the Atlantic, the ocean of my childhood.
The front of the house was filled with two big picture windows. The ocean was right there in front of me, every morning, every night. Soon the ocean seemed like my companion, my body and my moods seemed to follow its rhythm. I missed the ocean like you miss a friend when we moved away that spring.
I remember the first warm rain of summer when I was a kid…my sisters and I would strip down to our underwear and dance on the driveway, flinging our heads back and trying to catch raindrops in our mouths. My mother encouraged us, though she didn’t join in. Rain would fall on my eyelashes and then into my eyes, and eventually I’d start to shiver. Then I’d run into the house and get wrapped up in a big towel. I thought dancing in the rain was very delicious.
This photo reminds me of those times, though I am cheating- this girl is playing in a fountain. Do you ever dance in the rain?
